Why I believe custom club fitting is a game changer.

As a beginner, I remember walking into a golf retail store to buy my first set of clubs, a set that suited my budget rather than a set that would help me improve my game. I quickly outgrew the box set and it was time for my second set of clubs. We are all different, with different swings, so why would a player benefit from buying standard golf clubs? A golf swing is much like a fingerprint, no two golfers are the same.

I realized the importance of custom club fitting in order to improve your game. Not having the correct setup (club length, weight, lie angles, shaft flex or grip sizes) for your body would only encourage players to compromise and prevent them from developing proper swing mechanics. During a complete club fitting session, factors such as face and launch angles, spin rate, ball speed, attack angle and club paths allows the fitter to discover the best head-shaft combination to optimize feel, distance and consistency. If your clubs are set up correctly according to your characteristics, it reduces uncertainty and provides you peace of mind whilst playing.

I trust the knowledge of professional custom fitter, Regardt van Rooyen, based at eGolf Megastore in Dubai, to bring the most out of my clubs. At the end of the day, I want my clubs to be an asset to my game and work for me. I know that by optimizing the performance of my clubs, the optimized ball flight will in return lead to distance gains and improved accuracy and control.
