Chasing a dream..
If anyone ever asked me if I would ever give up a corporate career for sport, I would be quick to laugh it off and without a doubt replied “NEVER!” That was before a chance volunteer opportunity in Kenya. Working with these kids and experiencing the positive care of Mama Rose, I longed for something bigger. I realized that we are all born with a God given purpose and each one of us has different dreams and desires, but it had been up to me to choose my way forward.
After some soul-searching and with a reasonable amount of trepidation I handed in my resignation, facing the unknown. All I knew was I wanted to change lives and inspire people to follow their dreams and I believed that I could do this through golf. I wanted to play golf to the utmost best of my ability and become a role model for kids that feel stuck in difficult circumstances. I had financial support for a mere two years, but somehow always find that God set up chance encounters for meeting new people, opening doors and providing me with the opportunity to take the next step in the journey.
I do realize not all of us are fortunate enough to chase our dreams. But it is with great gratitude to all that are influencing my life along this short journey that I have learned we only have this day as a gift; only this day, this moment to change a life on our own journey; only this day to make the most of our dreams. Chasing my dreams became my biggest daily motivation, because tomorrow is only a promise.
And if I get the chance again tomorrow, I will do it all over again.
